The Twin Cities Ukrainian community proudly celebrates two significant milestones: the 21st anniversary and the 31st anniversary of Ukrainian independence during the Ukrainian Heritage Festival. This event showcases the vibrant customs and traditions of Minnesota's Ukrainian-American community, featuring traditional homemade dishes like Varenyky (pierogi), Holubtsi (stuffed cabbage rolls), and Borsch (beet soup). This year’s festival also includes an art auction and photo exhibit, with proceeds benefiting the Protez Foundation, which provides prosthetics for Ukrainian amputees.
Attendees can enjoy a variety of highlights, including energetic performances by the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Ensemble and lively music from the Ukrainian Village Band. The festival will also have hands-on activities like Easter egg-making demonstrations, local craft vendors, a beer garden, and engaging games for children. Cultural exhibits and workshops on traditional embroidery and folk art will deepen attendees' appreciation of Ukrainian heritage, while a silent auction will support the prosthetics program for Ukrainian amputees. Overall, the Ukrainian Heritage Festival promises a fun and educational experience for all ages, celebrating Ukraine's rich culture and community spirit.
